Sting Tickets - Broadway Show and Touring
Former Police frontman Sting has certainly made a name for himself in the world of music and word has it that his next venture can be found on stage. The renowned singer has recently joined forces with Tony Award-winning writer Brian Yorkie to write the script for an upcoming Broadway musical. Although lips are firmly sealed on the matter, thehollywoodnews.com notes that it could very well be based around Sting's childhood experiences.
You'll find Sting on stage in another means as well as he prepares to embark on a world tour with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra. Sting recently gave an interview to NPR, saying, "I think the old idea of symphonic musicians being sort of long-haired intellectual snobs is over." He goes on to say that he believes the orchestra will enjoy playing with him because "there's enough harmonic movement in the music, and enough energy and interest in it." Sting, as many fans know, started his career as the frontman for the popular rock band the Police. After the group disbanded in 1984, Sting embarked on a highly successful solo career, initially focusing on sounds of jazz integrated into a rock genre. His solo debut effort The Dream of the Blue Turtles arrived in 1985 and spawned the hit singles "Love Is the Seventh Wave," "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" and "Fortress around Your Heart."
In the following years he would continue to dabble in ambitious musical directions; Nothing like the Sun had an emphasis on jazz and featured the popular tunes "We'll Be Together" and "They Dance Alone." Several years after its release Sting returned again, this time with a memorial album to his father, who had only just passed away (Nothing Like the Sun was dedicated to his mother who just passed). The Soul Cages was an extremely dark and complex album, which hit number two on the album charts and spawned the hit ballad "All This Time."
Although Sting saw success with his previous albums, it was Ten Summoner's Tales that really propelled him on the charts. It was a very light-hearted pop album that featured the Top 20 hit singles "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" and "Fields of Gold." Since the release of Ten Summoner's Tales in 1993, Sting issued a handful of other albums like Mercury Falling and Brand New Day. The latter effort was a considerable success, earning the musician two Grammy Awards and ultimately going triple platinum. In 2007, he reunited with the Police for a world tour and then once again went solo in 2009 for the record If on a Winter's Night.
Sting has established himself as one of the most prominent singers on the world stage. He is also continuously involved in humanitarian and environmental efforts around the globe and founded the Rainforest Foundation Fund along with his wife Trudie Styler. The organization acts to save rainforests and protect the rights of the rainforest's inhabitants.
